Wait a minute, what is ISW?
ISW stands for Introductory Seminar Week and it starts with Registration Day on Monday, September 2nd to Saturday, September 7th. ISW Week consists of events that will help you become familiar with your individual college (in your case, Peter Gzowski College), Trent University Campus and the city of Peterborough. What do I have to do for Trent Reads? Trent Reads is a univeristy wide event that happens annually; the whole Trent community participates. There will be a mock seminar during ISW that allows incoming students to be exposed to a seminar-type experience. It will help you learn what to expect from your other class seminars and give you a chance to be in an academic setting before classes begin on Thursday. This years Trent Reads book is Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures, so be sure to pick up a copy and have it read when you come for ISW :) |
Who can participate in ISW ?
ISW is for ON residence students, OFF residence students, International students, you name it! If you are an incoming student to Trent University this week is for you! Who runs ISW? With the help of Trent University staff, ISW is run by upper year students (known as ISW Staff or Amiga Leaders). Each college has their own set of ISW Staff with 21-30 people to each college and either 2, or 3 Co-Chairs who oversee the events and programming. ISW Staff and Co-Chairs are volunteers who are here for YOU! We can answer any questions, show you around campus, and help you meet new people. ISW is only here for this week but if you see us on campus after the week, feel free to approach us. ISW could not be possible without the Dons. The Dons (also known as Residence Advisors at other Universities) are upper year students who live in the residences. They will also be assisting us in ISW events and of course, are here for you all year long. |
